Hope Photographs Exhibition
The Hope Photograph exhibition at the McMullen Museum of Art at Boston College showcased over 90 contemporary photographers, including many of the most influential and experimental of our day. The museum requested a design system that would work for signage, posters and invitations announcing the opening reception.
Photographs were grouped into seven themes, such as romance and birth/childhood. A professor wrote an essay on hope, observing…"Hope always has a face to it, and hands, a voice and a story." This provided the guideline for selecting the design package photographs. Each image tells a story with an unexpected twist, creating a dialogue with the viewer.
The invitation package was designed as a modular system to fit within the specified budget. Invitations came in side-flapped envelopes with labels to give the impression of an archived photo. Event sheets included in the invitation also served as hand-outs at the museum. Posters, each designed with one of the seven themes, invited BC students to the opening.
